Subtopic 3: Identification of AI generated content
¶ 1 Leave a comment on paragraph 1 4 Current AI detection systems are unreliable or even arbitrary. That is why it is advised to not use AI detectors. Currently, we have to rely on critical assessment of content that takes into account that any content can easily be generated by AI. Watermarking and certification of origin should be a more reliable means to authenticate content and should be supported by regulation.
[Watermarking and certification of origin should be a more reliable means to authenticate content and should be supported by regulation.]
I would add here: Watermarking and certification of origin should be a more reliable means to authenticate content and should be supported by regulation, keeping in mind that also these methods can be circumvented.
To take the two comments into account, I would suggest:
Current AI detection systems are unreliable or even arbitrary. That is why it is advised to not use AI detectors other than in an experimental way with a very high level of caution and particularly not for assessing works of students. Currently, we have to rely on education and critical assessment of content that takes into account that any content can easily be generated by AI. Watermarking and certification of origin should be a more reliable means to authenticate content and should be supported by regulation.
Efforts to foster critical assessment and education were also mentioned
Question: Not recommended to use or to use with a very high level of caution
